March Bootcamps Open Doors to Careers in Hotels, Wineries, and Tourism
San Luis Obispo, CA [January 28, 2025] – SLO Partners is expanding its successful Hospitality Bootcamp program to include a second training session in South County, offering more local residents the chance to develop skills and connect with careers in the growing hospitality and tourism industry.
The North County session will take place on March 10 at the Paso Robles Oxford Suites, and the newly added South County session will follow on March 11 at the South County Chambers of Commerce in Arroyo Grande.
Designed for entry-level or newly hired staff, the bootcamps provide fast-paced, hands-on training in customer service and hospitality essentials, preparing participants for roles at wineries, hotels, restaurants, and other tourism businesses. In addition to training, participants will also have the opportunity to meet potential employers at local job fairs held in Paso Robles on March 12 and Arroyo Grande on March 13.
“Tourism is the heart of our local economy,” said Jennifer Clayton, Director of Student Relations at SLO Partners. “Expanding to South County means we’re not only helping local businesses meet workforce needs but also creating career opportunities for residents across the Central Coast.”
Participants will gain practical skills, including customer service training, alcohol service certification (RBS), and resume-building workshops. The bootcamp costs $49, with scholarships available to ensure accessibility for those in need.
Local leaders say the program is essential to supporting the region’s economy and ensuring hospitality businesses are ready for the busy season.
“With the tourism season fast approaching, the need for skilled hospitality workers is higher than ever. These bootcamps aim to bridge the gap between employers and job seekers,” said Stacie Jacob, Executive Director of Travel Paso. “This program not only helps residents find meaningful work but also elevates the visitor experience, which benefits everyone in San Luis Obispo County.”
The bootcamps are organized in partnership with the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance and the South County Chambers of Commerce, highlighting the collaborative effort to address workforce needs while offering career pathways for residents.
